CAR/LAR
Reduce Manual Sorting & Keying!
Reads Handwritten Amounts From Checks

This feature substantially reduces overall document sort and processing time. CAR/ LAR reads the hand written Courtesy Amount (CAR) and the Legal Amount (LAR)* on a cheque, compares the two and returns the correct value with a high degree of accuracy. If this amount matches an expected amount determined by the accompanying stub, then the transaction is processed without operator intervention.
Sort Categories: ItemAge Express One Pass or Right Pass with CAR/LAR requires only 2 sort categories: ‘cheques only’ and everything else.
Running in One Pass Mode: Each transaction may be balanced during processing when in this mode. If, after the last cheque in a transaction has been read and the transaction does not balance, the user has the option of calling a “pop up” window and editing the associated stub(s) so that the transaction balances.
Multiple Expected Amounts: ItemAge Express will track up to 5 expected amounts per stub. When balancing, the system will look at various combinations of expected amounts to find a balancing combination. If it finds one, it will consider the transaction balanced.
Cheques Only: CAR/LAR returns result for operator verification. On verification or key entry the cheque is encoded.
Unique 'Right Pass' Technology
CAR/LAR in conjunction with ItemAge Express when used with an iTRAN transport may be configured so that matched single payments are ‘killed’ on First Pass, and all exceptions are sent to Image Data Completion and Second Pass. It is the ideal workflow!
* The primary read is performed on the CAR amount. LAR is read only to validate CAR and improve accuracy. A mismatch between CAR/LAR (or missing LAR) may result in a stop for validation or may not, so CAR/LAR should not be used for any validation beyond its intended purpose of reading amounts.
