Creditron Introduces Solution to Address Over-The-Counter Payments for Utilities

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Canada, August 31, 2006 – Utilities and municipalities now a have more efficient way to process payments from customers who pay their bills in person. Creditron today introduced an "Over The Counter" add-on to their popular remittance processing suite. Dubbed RP$ OTC this unique offering brings the automation of sophisticated digital imaging normally only found in back office operations right to the front counter.

This increases accuracy, saves time, and provides customers with accurate receipts for their records. For customers that pay by check the receipt even includes an image of their check for their records - positive proof of the payment received.

"For years we have provided back office automation, and this extends that functionality to the front counter to provide faster and more accurate customer service for  transactions made in person at a cashier window".

This innovative solution scans stubs and checks at the font counter, capturing digital images and reading account number, amount, and other posting data automatically. Stubs for credit card and cash payments can also be scanned and reported, but the system does not do real time credit card authorization at this time.

Users of the new Creditron Over-The-Counter solution can consolidate the payments received with their back office system to eliminate double data entry, provide a single automated deposit report,  and ensure that images of of payments regardless of their source are in one easy-to-search archive.

With Remote Deposit under Check 21 the benefits are multiplied as there is no need to physically take the checks to the bank at all. This positions the solution well for the future, while still accommodating customers that like the personal touch of a face-to-face transaction.
